Next deadline for artistic screening KCB, for the admission to the doctorate in the arts

This screening is organized by Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and is only open for musicians. If you want to apply for a Phd in the Arts through the Conservatory, you need to go through 3 stages: start with sending your Curriculum Vitae, an overview of concerts, CD`s, awards and two to three audiofiles. Composers should also send in two to three compositions. You should send an e-mail to Inge Pieters and Kristin Van den Buys. 

If you pass this artistic screening, you should hand in a PhD research project. You can use a form for this.  If you get a positive advice after sending in your dossier, you still need to do a jury talk. You will need to present your research proposal and give a short performance (linked to your research). In case of a positive answer of the jury, you can start your PhD at any time, on condition that all the requirements from the VUB are fulfilled. It is important to note that an admission to the PhD in the Arts does not automically come with funding.

The next deadline for the artistic screening is 18 November 2026. The candidates will receive the result before 19 December 2026. Those with a positive result, will need to send in their dossier before the end of February 2027. The candidates who receive a positive advice for their dossier, will be invited for a live screening at the end of April 2027.
