Structure and organisation
Brussels Arts Platform is the UAB (Universitaire Associatie Brussel) advisory and consultation body that formulates proposals to EhB and VUB on artistic research in all its aspects.
Brussels Arts Platform:
- stimulates, facilitates, and supervises PhDs in the arts within the divisions of the UAB. The Arts Platform is also responsible for the productional aspects of the Doctorates, such as exhibitions, performances and concerts.
- supports, facilitates, and stimulates cooperation in the field of artistic research between the researchers within the divisions of the UAB and with external (national and international) partners from artistic and academic fields.
- makes recommendations to EhB and VUB on artistic research proposals of all forms.
- contributes, through research practice, to an international multidisciplinary reference framework for artistic research in Brussels.
The members of Brussels Arts Platform include active researchers, doctoral students, and their supervisors attached to the Schools of Arts of Erasmushogeschool and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
The daily operational management of the Arts platform is in the hands of the Platform Bureau, composed of Katia Segers (VUB, chairwoman), Kristin Van Den Buys (research coordinator Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, vice-president), Ellen Gillard (research coordinator RITCS, vice-president). They are assisted in this by a coordinator (Inge Pieters). This board meets on a regular basis and reports to the Platform Council.
The Platform Council is responsible for developing the vision of the Arts Platform and consists of the members of the executive committee, two representatives of KCB and of RITCS, five representatives of VUB, and a representative of the doctoral students as an advisory member. The Platform Council meets every eight weeks and reports to UAB, VUB, and EhB.
